Responsible Practices for Recording Student Information
Information produced during tutoring may involve students' academic and personal lives. Recording requires an educational purpose, respectful language, and protection.
Record only what is necessary
Not everything said in a conversation needs to be stored. Prioritize information that supports educational action, an agreement, or continued follow-up.
Describe without judging
Prefer verifiable descriptions. Instead of assigning permanent characteristics, record the observed situation, context, and guidance provided.
- Do not record offensive comments;
- Do not include unconfirmed diagnoses;
- Avoid assumptions about family or health;
- Identify information reported by the student;
- Correct inaccurate data promptly.
Control access
Protect the device with a password, do not share accounts, and do not leave records visible in public places. Follow institutional retention, disposal, and incident procedures.

When in doubt
Talk to pedagogical coordination or the institutional privacy contact. Educational necessity should be evaluated before recording, not after exposure.
